Overview
People have been predicting the demise of our planet for one reason or another for centuries, and the latest fad is global warming. The global warming phenomenon has reached new heights of hysteria as leaders from the world’s nations are passionate in their belief that the world is doomed if global warming is not brought under control.
Some Reasons to Believe in Global Warming
Since 1880 the average earth temperature has climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
In the past 400 years the last 20 have been the warmest.
The Artic could have its first ice free summer before the year 2040.
In the mountains glaciers and snows are melting because thaws are beginning a week earlier in the spring, with fall freezes starting a week later than normal.
Sea temps are rising and as a result coral reefs are dying off.
What are Some Reasons for Global Warming?
Worldwide many scientists blame humans for global warming.
They believe industry, cutting down the forests and pollution allow green house gases, i.e. water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide to be trapped close to the surface of the earth.
Carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere faster than it is assimilated.
What are Some Results of Global Warming?
There will be food and water shortages leading to death for humans and wildlife.
Sea levels could rise two feet by the end of the century, causing massive deadly flooding.
Yes, frightening pictures one catastrophic event after another until life, as we know it, is snuffed out. Doesn’t it make sense, though, to sift through different views about a subject as serious as the destruction of earth, before jumping on its band wagon?
God, the Alternative View
The uncorrectable flaw in mankind’s understanding about global warming is imbedded in mankind. Simply put, the information above was compiled by mankind, a frail, finite species trapped in its own pride.
I agree no matter which side your belief is on it’s a faith issue. I base my faith on the Bible, though, which says its writers were inspired by a sovereign God, 2Timothy 3:16. God also says, in Romans 1:20, man was created with the ability to realize there is a God simply by looking at creation. Those are my foundation.
What God says about His Earth
Who created the universe? “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”…. Genesis 1:1-7
Who says who created the universe? “For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it”… Isaiah 45:18.
Who does it all belong to? “The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness”… Psalm 24:1.
How it will all end. …“and the elements will melt with a fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.” 2Peter 3:10-13.
When Will the Universe be Destroyed
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:31-32
There, from the One who started it all is what we’re told about how it’s going to end. For those who don’t believe God has a message for you. “But indeed O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?” Romans 9:20-21.
